THING 7
My traveling through different feed finders has given me something to think about. They all seemed so different. If I had to rate them I definately would choose TOPIX as my favorite as to me, it was the easiest to navigate around in and had local information feeds. My second pick would be the GOOGLE BLOG feed finder. This feed finder had big groups with easy to understand headings to choose from. The one bad thing about this finder it really was not set up by item more by time of feed. My last choice was SYNDIC8 because in all fairness I truely did not understand this feed finder. It looked way to complicated for a first time user. It was very interesting to see the vast differences in the feed finders.

THING 6
My bloglines account is : http://www.bloglines.com/myblogs . I think I may have went a little overboard on this exercize. It was fun finding the rss symbol and I find I am actually interested in many different things. I tried a different reader called pageflakes and I really thought this one was interesting. I may try a few of the other ones mentioned down the road. The thing I liked most about pageflakes reader was its layout. It was so organized and easy to go from one interest to the other. Again I really don't have time at work to play with these things so I am not sure how it would carry over into our library day, but it would be fun to give a class on it so other people would know what is out there for them besides e-mail.
THING 5
I have used instant messaging a while ago, but have been too busy to really use it lately. I don't use it at work and by the time I go home and have a chance to go on the computer--none of my contacts, which consist mostly of family, are around...If they are smart they are in bed sleeping, as I am usually on the computer quite late at night. I think I would probably use it more if I was home more during the day. As most of my contacts work in offices or are in college. I don't really see us using IM in the library as we are not staffed for someone to be on the computer throughout the day. We usually go on to check for interlibrary loans or to put books into our system. I can see how it would be a good way to connect with teens who spend so much time on the computer (would work as well as a cell phone) to keep in contact with them.

slowly learning
I must have done something wrong with my first attempt at blogging, so I have made a different account. I hope the old one will just disappear....as it is a reminder of things gone bad!!!

The beginning
I am hoping to learn as much as I can on the 23 things. I have taken several classes on blogging, but have never found the time to actually blog--thus I have lost everything I have learned. When I was approached about taking this class I was excited to think I would actually be practicing what I would be learning. Hopefully I will finally get the hang of blogging and be able to add this to my list of accomplishments!
